I went in for a teeth cleaning after about 1 year of not seeing a dentist. I take good care of my teeth, brushing twice daily and flossing. They barely had any clearing to do.

First off, for my second appointment, I waited an hour in a loud waiting room with the tv blaring Disney movies. Now, I appreciate that it helps to keep kids entertained, but for those of us needing to work while waiting for daytime appointments, it was near impossible. One must walk past a pile of construction materials on the way back to the exam room, and the place feels messy in general. Once in the exam room, one hour after my appointment time (with another 30 minutes of waiting to go), they turned on "Grease 2" over my chair. Again, I had to block out a lot to try to get a little work done in that time. In the meantime, the UNgloved dental assistant unloaded a ton of dental tools onto the trays.

Upon leaving my first appointment, they had let me know that they saw three areas of concern. Upon arriving back, they said I had five areas, and once in the exam room, they said I had seven. WHAT? They never pointed them out on the x-ray, and after my apprehension, they brought in a video camera/laptop to show me, which was kind. I elected to have only two of the "issues" fixed, as the others looked like very minor areas that might be sealed. They certainly didn't test the softness of my enamel in these areas, which other doctors have always done, and I was in no pain. At least at that time.

After repairing an old filling that had an additional carie in it, they filled in a spot along my lower gum line that had lost enamel after the removal of my braces 20 years ago. Now, I was well numbed up at this time, and couldn't feel much, and I thought that the burning smell was coming from the drill at my tooth. Turns out it was my skin - all along the inside of my lips on the left side, and the inside of my left cheek was burned badly enough for the skin to die and begin sloughing off. It is now one day later, and after having given three lectures today, jaw still swollen and dead skin slowly coming off in pieces, I was motivated to write this review. The doctor nor the staff mentioned nor apologized for this happening to me at the time of the appointment.

While the dentist was kind, and I am sure she is knowledgeable, I think that her dental assistant (who was supposed to be holding my cheek out and not singing along to Grease 2), as well as the general communication and professionalism at the office could be improved - GREATLY. I will not be returning.
